Brief CV


Norifumi KAWABATA received the B.E., M.E. degrees in the Intellectual Information Engineering from University of Toyama, Japan, in 2011, and 2013, respectively. Since 2013, he entranced into Ph.D. course in the Information Platform Group, Department of Information Engineering, Graduate School of Information Science in Nagoya University. He received the Ph.D. of Information Science from Nagoya University, Japan, in March 2017, respectively. Since April 2017 to March 2018, he was studying on Medical Engineering (for Medical Image Analysis) as a Research Fellow, Center for Frontier Medical Engineering (CFME), Chiba University. Since April 2018 to March 2019, he was studying and supporting on Transportation and Information System as an Assistant Technical Staff, the Institutes of Innovation for Future Society, Nagoya University. Since April 2019 to July 2021, he was joining as an Assistant Professor (for Computer Science such as Software Engineering, Computer Graphics, and Formal Method) in the Department of Information Sciences, Tokyo University of Science. Since August 2021 to September 2021, he was joining in the Medical IT Center, Nagoya University Hospital as an Assistant Technical Staff (for Medical Information System on Smart Hospital). Since October 2021 to March 2022, he was joining to the Education and Research Center for Mathematical and Data Science, Hokkaido University as a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor (for Education and Research on Doctoral program for Data-Related InnoVation Expert (D-DRIVE), Skill Set of Mathematical and Data Science, and Mathematical and Data Science of Computational Imaging Field). Since April 2022 to March 2023, he was joining in the Computational Imaging Lab as a Principal Investigator (for study on imaging and computer science). Since April 2023 to April 2024, he was joining to the Department of Economic Informatics, Faculty of Economic Informatics in Kanazawa Gakuin University as an Associate Professor (for the education and research on multimedia signal processing towards economic informatics). Since April 2024 to April 2024, he was joining to the Department of Information Engineering, Faculty of Information Engineering in Kanazawa Gakuin University as an Associate Professor (for the education and research on computer engineering (signal processing)). Since May 2024 to present, he is joining in the Computational Imaging Lab as a Principal Investigator (for study on imaging and computer science). He got a prize of “IEICE Tokai Section Student Award 2014 (Doctor)” in June 2015. He has been selected “ITE International Conference Student Support Grant” for ITC-CSCC 2016 in July 2016. He also got a prize of “Forum on Information Technology Encouragement Award 2016” in September 2016. He has been selected “Traveling abroad Travel Expenses Assistance in the Telecommunications Advancement Foundation” in December 2017 and December 2023. He got a Certificate of Appreciation for serving as a reviewer for Journal of Electronic Imaging during the calendar year of 2017 and 2018 in February 2018, February 2019, and January 2024, and then, he also got a Certificate of Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing of Elsevier Signal Processing in April 2018. He become a Councilor, Japan Society of Computer Aided Surgery (JSCAS) in December 2023. His main research interests are the multi-view 3D image media quality, 3DCG, visible digital watermarking, color image processing, human interface interaction, and medical engineering (Computer-Aided Diagnosis).
